A few nights a week at about 6:30pm the doorbell rings. It freaks C and D out until it dawns on them that it might be UPS. They start running towards the door yelling "UPS! UPS!" (originally it was "PSS! PSS! but they've since figured it out). UPS is seriously the best friend a girl could have... he/she brings them all sorts of things...from diapers to books to rainboots for mommy to any number of things that can be ordered online or sent as a gift.
Last night the doorbell rang, and once panicked subsided (initial thought is always that someone is coming in and mommy is leaving) joy took over...the door opens and two little monkeys are yelling "high UPS!" out the door. The box comes up and C starts stamping her feet yelling "open it open it open it!" We take it into their bedroom because it is for them. C comes running in with her "gang" (lion, giraffe, cow, and doggy purse). She is banging on the box she is so excited. Then she realizes--she has forgotten to bring her "Avery book" in (books from the Erwins that C/D treat as cardboard security blankets lately). She gives me the most panic stricken look, like "I HAVE to go get my book, but I CANNOT miss the opening of the UPS box." She was distraught, until I reassured her that we would indeed wait. She runs to the next room, grabs the book, and runs in like it is Christmas. And luckily it was like Christmas, as they received beautiful little pearls from Grandmommy Helen to add to their add-a-pearl necklaces.
The only problem we have is that now when C/D receive gifts they spend half the time thanking the gift giver "Thank you Grandmommy Helen" and half the time thanking "UPS." I seriously need to get me a "UPS." (one who doesn't need my CC to work).
