Shamus

Somewhere along the way, St. Patrick's Day evolved.  It used to be you just wore green and tried not to get pinched.  Now it's green milk, green pee, and a tricky leprechaun.

Richard, a K teacher and school icon at  C/D school (he runs the Hickory class) is all about going big over holidays, an unusual quality at a school that tries to make every day special but no day too special.  He has a solid relationship with Shamus, a leprechaun that visits not just on St. Patricks Day but the entire week surrounding it.  He pees in the toilet and doesn't flush, he leaves green footprints, he makes a mess of things.  Unfortunately, neither C nor D were in Richard's class last year and so they feel a bit cheated.

This year, C wasn't taking any chances, so she left Shamus a note at our apartment.  Shamus showed and left a lot in his wake.  L wore as much green as she could, came home from school and said, surprised, "Mom it actually worked out. I mean I didn't get pinched!"

Love Charley

Look what a mess he made!

He even left his glasses hanging from our chandelier
