C and D wanted to celebrate their birthday in Carmel with Gram and Sam. They wanted to "swim at the beach club and then have a party." I was worried that they expected a bunch of kids to show up but they didn't seem to be disappointed. Maybe it was the nice day we got that made it actually possible to swim . Or maybe it was the mermaid and giraffe cakes Gram got them. Or the GIANT helium balloons THAT TALKED that Gram and Sam bought them (Imagine driving 2 hours with a child you want to stay asleep and every time you hit even a tiny bump one of them goes off. "Hi, it's Tinkerbell here to wish you a magical birthday." Or "Hey everybody, it is Lightning McQueen wishing you a Happy Birthday." Freaking shoot yourself). Or maybe it was the view they had at their birthday table--arguably the best view of any four year old birthday party ever.
Whatever it was, they had a great time.
